Candida Hair Loss

Candida Hair Loss

Candida is a yeast like bacteria that normally lives in warm and moist areas of the body.

It’s a natural bacteria that if it remains in a balanced system doesn’t really cause any harm.

However, Candida can become overgrown and a myriad of symptoms and health problems result.

While most people think of Candida as it relates to vaginal yeast infections. Candida can become overgrown in the mouth, a condition called thrush.

Candida can also become overgrown on the scalp and cause Candida hair loss or Candidiasis Folliculitis.

What Causes It?

Candida overgrowth is caused by a number of factors. Most predominantly when Candida is overgrown in the digestive tract, it’s caused by poor dietary habits.

Candida feeds on sugar. When a diet is full of starchy carbohydrates and sugary food, Candida has an abundance of food to thrive and grow.

Candida bacteria can also easily multiply when a person’s immune system is compromised. People who are battling cancer, diabetes, or have an autoimmune disease may find Candida overgrowth problems.

On your scalp, just like under your fingernails or in the folds of your skin, bacteria and fungus can grow. This is particularly common if there is a scratch or an injury. Like athletes foot, the fungus can live there for a while slowly growing.

Candida overgrowth on the scalp causes the hair follicles become infected and subsequent hair loss results.

Candida Hair Loss Complications

If the Candidiasis Folliculitis is left untreated, it can make its way into the blood stream and make its way to the organs. Lungs, liver, kidneys and eyes can become infected by Candida overgrowth.

This causes a number of problems including fatigue, chronic pain, chronic illness, malnutrition, digestive disorders and skin problems.

Candida Treatment

Most physicians will prescribe an anti-fungal to treat the Candida overgrowth and the resulting infection. However, because Candida is naturally present in your body, recurrence is common.

One particularly effective way to treat Candida overgrowth is to become healthier. Strengthen your immune system and eat in a manner that supports immune health.

Additionally, cutting back on sugar, Candida’s primary fuel source, will help keep it at bay.

Keeping the area dry will also help eliminate Candidiasis Folliculitis because it thrives in warm dark places.

If you struggle with Candida overgrowth and have Candida hair loss, it’s important to visit your dermatologist for a diagnosis. Take measures to treat the symptom.

However, it’s also important to treat the cause through proper diagnosis and lifestyle changes.

If you’re struggling with other Candida overgrowth symptoms like fatigue, headaches, chronic colds, weight gain and even depression, then a Candida diet and other lifestyle changes are required to live symptom free.
